TV says he's gotten the last rites...

The sacrament does not necessarily mean that the pope is dying. Last rites -- also known as the sacrament of anointing the sick -- are commonly given to people who are seriously ill as well.
I've already opened the party snacks!!!! :(

The trouble with people recieving the Last Rites, is that most are too sick to know they've had them, and therefore are only ever associated with the dying.
As far as kicking the bucket goes, I think somebody's going to have to kick it for him. And with the Roman Catholic churches history I'd be surprised if they're not lining up for it.
Now Quig/Salvo, before you go off at me and cast me down to the big BBQ below, I was born and raised an RC. But I'm more Australian than RC, so that means I can take the piss out of situations like this, 'cause that's what we do.
Oz - that is the problem with the RC church today. Everybody thinks that the OZ wing and the yank wing etc etc all can play it their own way. Not the case.
"On this rock I shall build ..."
not on this rock and that tree and that brick ...
Just kidding Dad!
So are they going to hook him up to an IV for fifteen years and refuse to let him die?
Isn't that what he would have wanted?
[/irony]
Clown - looks like he's kneeling on a surf board to me.
"the swell sucks today dude"
What he did today was the fulfillment of his mission. The mission which resulted in demolishing the wall between Vatican and the rest of the world. He never wanted to be a ruler. He showed that the pope's number one mission is to be a human, meet with people and talk with them, not just summoning the world to live in peace from a window of his apartment every day. He made more pilgrimages during his life than every other pope. Great sense of humour. Young people love him to death. God I wish everyone of us had his charisma. I'm proud to be a Pole because of him. Have a good rest man... you really deserve it...
I served Mass for him when he was still a Cardinal. To the best of my memory he came to San Francisco to see an old friend - another Polish Priest who was at my parish. It was a big deal to have a Cardinal so they mainly had other priests doing the heavy altar service but there was my brother and I. We met him and he was actually nicer than our own parish priests!
Fox, I guess Italy and Poland have never been closer.
We should take that last pilgrimage as the pope is taking it himself - calmly.

Looking back now it was strange. Mark McGwire came and kissed his ring, and then he recieved a hockey stick fromt he local team. It was odd seeing the Pope swinging that thing around. However, going to Catholic school all my life it was an honor to see the vicar.
