I passed all of my exams last week (28/30 average, not that bad) and in spite of being an expert on most aspects of international law now (or did you know that the law applicable to an international economic contract can --in Italy-- be chosen in accordance with law nr. 218/1995 which harks back to the Roma Convention of 1980) the most important thing is that I'm off and have officially checked out of Siena.
Am now catching some breath at home and will be off to London on Wednesday morning. CIVILISATION!! No more guys in short skirts and leggings drumming you out of your sleep at half eight on a Sunday morning.
Starbucks, VirginMegaStore, Burger King, Underground Trains, bicycles, CIVILISATION!!

Congratulations.
So do you have any travel plans?
You'd enjoy Malaysia even more 2nd time.
Should change in the next couple of weeks but that money will go towards the Robert-Jan Bartunek Postgraduate Studies Fund. Should I reach my target though I'll go there again, no doubt about it.
Say it isn't so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

should I feel the urge for a place far away from everything with appalling connections to the rest of the country, where people long all year to see other people kill some poor horses in some phony horse race (yeah, let's call it tradition) and have not much else to talk about, I will reconsider Siena but I can't see that happen in the foreseeable future.
No doubt, it has some architectural gems but you've pretty much seen them after three hours. Honestly, three weeks ago some guy came down one of the hills with a bike and I nearly had a "what is that?" moment.
Nothing to do with Italy, Bologna seems such a nice place and when we went to the beach the other day it was really nice but Siena is just not all that...
But I thought you said you were going back to the UK??? :hehe:
But I reckon that when you're not a local and don't live there because you want to have a quiet life, even Siena can be boring after a few weeks (as almost every place in the world).
Remember the desk helpo at the hotel in Bologna?
I guess the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. RJ has lived in many places and I... well other than traveling with the machine I have only lived in San Francisco.
But England RJ?
But, to be honest, I spent 4 months of my life in Aberdeen (loved it), and another year in Nottingham (liked it, but really had to study a lot), and I would not be interested in moving again to the UK. Even though London must of course be different (if London is the place where you are going next year).
But if you want to find a place where REAL life is, why don't you come to Cairo.
Here it's pure life man, you can't kiss a girl on the street because it's forbidden and you risk to be fined by the police, and you don't get waken up at 8.30 by "guys in short skirts and leggings drumming you out of your sleep ", but at 4:30 by the muezzin tape (progress has arrived here as well, it's no more the guy really singing) shouting: "ALLLLLLAAAAAAAAH A AKBAAAAAAAAAR, ALLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, ALLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH".....
Yes RJ, if you complained about Siena, you should come here and stay not one, but TWO years:hehe::hehe:
