At last! We get to see what happens to a current spec (2010) F1 car at Bathurst.
Can't wait for the Youtube on that one.
Will the suspension break in the dipper? Can it be held flat at Skyline? Will the driver have a heart attack at the end of Skyline when all the driver sees is the Valley floor 2,000? feet below? Will they overcook it at the elbow and fly off into the forest?
Keep your eye out for the video, cause it should be good viewing.

Lowndes did very well.

Lowndes did well, though he has a lot of circuit knowledge, which you need there.
Button was pretty slow in the V8, though most of that is probably lost on the trip across Skyline and down to Forest Elbow, where you need to know the trick of getting through quickly. He said that he didn't expect so much grip from the car, so probably wasn't committing to the walls the way that you need to.

When you look at something like that you want to punch Tilke in the face.
Back before they put the chase in at the end of conrod, it was a rise. When they had the Easter bike races there, there was a fair bit of flying done. There is alledgedly a photo of Greg Hansford and Warren Willing side by side a metre off the ground there, but I've never seen it. Folks like Barry Sheene and Kenny Roberts have practised take-offs from it as well. Unfortunately, Bathurst took more than its share of young lives, so the end of the straight was turned into a chicane (as you do).
