dear me, is this allowed?

  • An early track test of '09 aero regs maybe??? if it is indeed what it is, I'm amazed it was allowed to get out.
  • Looks like the platypus bill is making a comeback!

    This is trulli ugly...
  • Yes, that is it (apart from the sidepod flip-ups and twirls - they are banned for 2009). The rear wing is horrible but if it does actually allow more overtaking then it will suddenly become beautiful.

Slicks are back too, don't forget. Those horrible grooved dry tyres are finally gone.
  • So, I'm the only one who likes this look?
  • now i'm not an aero engineer, but shouldn't this prove incredibly twitchy?

I have to disagree Viges no amount of overtaking will make those wings beautiful.

The BMW Suaber looks pretty bad too.
  • The side on photo of the BMW on the autosport site looks like a Formula Palmer Audi car but at least it has clean lines no annoying flip-ups and wing lets. The truth will come in Melbourne when we see more than one car on track at once.

    I'm speechless...

  • I don't know why but they remind me of Aussie Racing Cars, which are miniature versions
    of the V8 Supercars...

  • ewwwwww that is truly ugly... btw what series is that below?
  • Could the human eye bear to see both the new F1 and the Aussie Racing Cars at the same event? I very much doubt it, hope it never happens though.
  • Can the human eye bear to see both? they already have at this years OZ Gp. Make no mistake they are actually great to watch...

How many other racing series can you get 6 cars across on the straight?

  • Love the Aussie racing cars. They're brilliant. Tiny versions of todays Australia's Holden and Ford family sedans. They've just introduced the body shell for the currrent Toyota as well. great to watch, they move around under braking like the PS03. he he

They run a 1200cc Yamaha motorbike engine with a 6 speed sequential gearbox. And you'll see more action in one race the in a whole F1 season.
  • that's bleedin' awesome! hahaha casualties so far? looks scary, even on the onboard
  • Kubica said he's very worried about these new flaps, specially the front ones: being so large, he says contacts between cars, specially at the start, will be much easier, and there will be many more multiple crashes at the green light.....

Gene', instead, says that with such a low aerodinamic charge surpasses will be much easier (others doubt it).

Mechanics are very worried that with the new KERS system, if they touch the car too early (in the first 3 seconds after stop), they might get an electic shock: on all the cars using KERS, indeed, there will be a big "danger" sign, and mechanics shall have to wear gloves covering arms until the elbow.

Let's see, I just hope to see more surpasses. This aero is very ugly at a first glance, but, like everything, you just need to get used. Moreover, I think that F1 cars don't have to be "beautiful" according to classical Greek canons: they rather have to be race animals. Some '70's cars were horrible looking, but in my opinion they were just fantastic!
  • To make F1 more interesting

    1. Ban All wings
    2. Use 10 year old rubber
    3. Winners from the previous race (podium positions 1,2 and 3)
have to drink the champaigne before the next race
    4. Get their girlfriends/wife(s) to finish the last 5 laps (in a Bikini)
    5. Drivers have to refuel and change their own tyres (saves$'s and pitcrew)
    6. Sing their own national anthem (no pre-recording)
Note: Australians excluded as its a Crap anthem - and no-one knows the words!

    Piston
  • Why bother?

Is it just the aspect, or is the wing actually higher?

Looks a bit like the wings from the early seventies that were perched on stilts.
