Damon's rightful title

Richard Williams makes an excellent point in today's Guardian; Schumi's B194 is up for sale in the US for half a million quid. The advert claims its in original condition 'exactly as in the day' with traction control!

Williams: 'its GP racing's equivalent of the smoking gun'. Quite.

  • I'm not sure it would be polite to put into words what Damon's "rightful title" should be.............

but as I remember at the time rumours were rife that both the Williams and the Benneton were pushing the technological boundries, so to speak. I would imagine the Williams would be similar
  • Senna was convinced something was up with that car and, of course, he was right. Benetton conspicuously failed to explain away 'option 13' on the settings.

  • Damon's rightful title
sorry, Simon, but with all due respect: rightful title MY ASS!

The guy had two extra races when they banned Schumi for absolutely nothing, the stronger engine and better car and still didn't manage to pull it off. I guess that's god telling him that he didn't deserve it (that year). Only when he had absolutely no competition (96) he managed to win the title. That guy was no champion, even Martin Brundle could have won the title in a Williams in 96 (which Berger realised when he offered Frank to drive for free).
  • It should've been Gerhard, he could've been a contender ...

And he did so well at Benetton in 96.
  • Like 'rule said, I'm sure the Williams of the same vintage was following the regulations word for word..
