What did they have to lose by giving Lewis a run out?

He was mega in GP2 this year; Silverstone and Turkey in particular.

    I can't see Delarosa driving for Macca next year. Like most of the test drivers, he's found his niche and its not racing.
    He was pretty poor in Suzuka finishing 30 seconds down on his team mate.

    I can see the logic of Ron wanting to keep Lewis in the background a bit longer, not put any more pressure on him and of course keep him away from the ghastly media, until next year.

    Also I'm sure PdlR is seen as a safe pair of hands with the car which I think McLaren will be keen on after the JPM incident, not good for the image 4 drivers a year, especially when it's an all new line up next year. Don't think PdlR has a chance of keeping the seat for next year but I can see it being Gary Paffet with Hamilton as test driver for a year to gain milage and experience.

    Call me a spoilsport. But even though i think Hamilton could be a superstar. I hate the way the British media (mainly non-motorsport media) are almost demanding that Hamilton gets the seat. I can't believe i'm gonna say type this but I agree with DC and I think Lewis should test for a year before getting the drive in 2008. I don't care who gets the 2007 seat.

    You're probably right. The only reason Rosberg got the seat at Williams was due to Button's withdrawal from his contract. I've got seroius doubts about the quality of GP2. I maintain the talent base lies in Formula 3.
