Rather ridiculous. Ukraine get into the last 8 because Swiss can't take penailties, not because they necessarily did anything outstanding.

Australia would have owned them...... alas.

i don't think the world cup has much influence on these rankings given that cameroon and nigeria (great teams, don't get me wrong) are still near the top 10 even though they missed out on the ticket to germany

I don't understand why people even look at this 'ranking'. The only thing that counts was just decided in Berlin.

There are certain immutable truths:

Spain will flatter to deceive.

Germany will win on penalties.

England will lose on penalties.

Brazil win win the World Cup, more often than not.

btw the reason australia is not as high up is because apart from the real teams they play during the world cup they make most of their points beating heavyweights like samoa, tonga and new zealand (and this is not seven a side rugby) and fifa has decided to weigh beaten opponents differently (that's why the us is down as well)
