"they are dying right before our eyes...we need 500 buses not 50!...there are alot of john waynes out here...if you don't want to give me the authority give to them and get the job done! we need troops mannn...this is a major major major deal!..."

"we gave the president unprecedented powers after 9/11...come on mann don't tell me we cannot do anything to save them!!...something is wrong mann, very wrong!"

"they can't hold out another hour with water up to their necks let alone another day!"

its very very desperate now...the whole world is watching...why are the americans killing their own folks!!

i'm not an american but i'm feeling really desperate over here!

It is bad - no doubt but it is not entirely the Feds fault. If you read my other post in the Katrina thread you will see that responsibilty starts with the individual and works its way up. The response time is way to slow and there should be hell to pay for anybody caught dragging their feet but it seems Louisiana did not have a very good plan for a disaster that has been predicted for a long time.

for heaven's sake please wake up...i'm not debating against you...i'm making a plea to all americans...

i was a tsunami victim...within 6 hours, the casualty list and whereabouts of all victims are being documented...see this list which was found by a friend of mine in kuala lumpur the day after:

in the gulf affected area, there is not a single registry started...you had hospital patients half of them half dead moved without their records...you have mothers and their new born seperated...you had school bus drivers driving people to no where...you have morgues flooded and corpses moved and dumped in stairwells...ray nagin said in response to a question that might be the louisiana governor needed to formally request help from the feds before bush can meet by saying, "did the tsunami victims and their governors formally request for help? did the iraqis formally asked bush to move in? hell, i might be in alot of trouble now but damn it people are dying right before our eyes when they needn't be!"...

hell, i say, even these 3rd world countries had all and sundry people doctors, engineers, army, police, monks, priests buddhists and hindus, islamists and moderate muslims leaving work and going there to help...i know of hashers in k.l. who drove 800km up to phuket in droves to help...they set up morques, temporary, orderly and help make contact for victims etc, etc....

as for the criminals, so, what you want to do shoot all of them...do that to them right now, in all the other states...no point keeping them...

the mayor said, the majority of the looters just want to survive and help save their kids with food and water...but the minority are drug addicts who cannot now get their fix and they go crazy mannn they go into hospitals to look for drugs they get into stores to get guns they shoot out of madness!...ok, america go kill all your drug addicts now in all your other states if you believe it's ok then...what the mayor wanted are troops, 40,000 of them yesterday! why can't bush do that? he needed to be invited? he just think by saying "the results are not acceptable..." is enough?

Facty - I am not crazy - well maybe a little. Yes the system has broken down. Our response to the tsunami was better than the response to this in our own country. There is no debate on that. However we have plenty of time after this situation to find the areas (all apparently) that need fixing. The National Guard is moving in and huge convoys are getting there as we speak - day late and dollar short. But wasting time pointing fingers is not in the best interests of the people affected.

Things will get better soon....I hope.

On that note - i have contributed and volunteere to help here in San Francisco with the Salvation Army. So far they have taken my money - it took a long time because the SA's servers were so overloaded - but they have not called for people to help pack boxs of food or blankets or...whatever. i am not just siting back watching this - I just wish there was more I could do.
