Patrick Friesacher has vowed to start work immediately on making a return to Formula One this season, after being forced out of Minardi.
The Austrian lost his drive to Robert Doornbos after his sponsorship funds dried up, despite some strong performances in the first half of the year.
And speaking on his official website, Friesacher said that he had no hard feelings towards Minardi and that he would begin working within the next few days on getting back into grand prix racing.
"Sure, I'm really sorry about what happened but I do understand Minardi's situation," he said. "I would like to thank my team for all the support. I really felt good with the team and gained some friendships.
"Within the next few days my manager Thomas Frank and I will go through the further course of action. For the next step we look forward to get a Formula One cockpit for the current season. In addition we work on a 2006 Formula One package."
Although there do not appear to be any race seats available for Friesacher this season, it is possible that he could land a third driver role somewhere on the grid.
There is even an outside chance he could conclude a deal with Jordan to become their third driver - and ironically take the position vacated by Doornbos.
I wish him good luck. He really is a nice guy and I was impressed with his driving skills early on.
