Minardi GP2

Could someone which have followed GP2 closely explain why the results were so poor this year? Or, why they seem so poor, at least.

    Tooooo many driver errors, inmyhumbleopinion. And a dash of bad Minardiluck. Speed was there at many or most of the races.

    I suppose the simple answer is they're not good enough. The quali speed is there but the racecraft mentality is not. Xandi is now the most experienced driver in GP2 history - in fact he has been all season ... Neither made good starts to races; that may be an engineering issue.

    Roldan shows promise but, personally, I don't see him in F1.

    On the set-up side: quali is confusing because it looks very good. Maybe they are only setting-up for quali and are behind on race set-up.

    Piquet was challenging for the title with 'this team' last year. Campos were hopeless last year but now are doing v well with good drivers. What Minardi needs is a winning driver ... like Adam Carroll.

    I don't think it's overemphasis on qualifying setup - at many races this year the race pace has been good too, and we've seen some strong drives in races. Other than that I'd probably agree with you.

    the piquet team has been winning races last year, maybe the engineers and mechanics are a bit stretched because of all the additional commitments they have in other racing series

    so xandi is changing team and taking his backing with him. good because now we will be seeing a full minardi livery (i guess) and less of the turquoise, bad because: who will foot the bill?
