Minardi Launch 2007

It's the launch of the Minardi GP2 and Euro3000 teams this weekend in Valladolid, Spain home town of Roldan Rodriguez who have kindly offered to pay for the launch and allow a street demonstration of the cars!!!

Very nice of them I thought.

The highlights seem to be the presentation of the teams, sponsors and drivers on Saturday and the demo's on Sunday. I will try and get some pics etc posted whilst there but will definately post some on return.

    Are you going? Should be fun! Oh to be back in the UK with cheap airfares! I got a press release in Spanish a week or so ago. looks like a weekend long party!

    Yeah the PR from the team was hardly deafening and my Spanish is worse than my Italian but should be good

    We'll have at least 2 present - man I wish I could be there......

    Which brings me to my next point. All you Euro types are 30 euro via Ryanair from that place but yet you remain at whatever socialist democracy hellhole you call home. Are you Minardi fans?

    Before you ask - I am saving away as we speak for the Valencia round of the GP2......

    UPDATE FROM GER:

    We were on the flight with GCM , Giovanni, and others. GCM WAS AWESOME he was talking to me like a old friend. We were offered a lift into the city on their bus but as we didnt quite know where our hotel was we took a taxi. Dan was impressed as he arrived 15 mins after us. GCM was chatting with me and as Dan came out of customs he (GCM) said "another friend is here" and he justly went to shake Dans hand. A Minardi moment eh!

    The launch was good, almost for me, it was in the main square, in front of the Town hall, the car was cover. The launch began at 9.30 but it was delayed, and many people go, then a tv local presenter, make an small introduction, and name the sponsor, and they put behind the car, then the mayor of Valladolid and anyone of the Junta de Castilla y Leon, make a small speech, about Castilla y Leon, and bla bla bla, then Roldan Rodriguez appears, dressed with his "mono" and gave thank at city, sponsor......, and the best moment, Roldan and other boy (I dont remember who) put over the blanket, while smoke cover only a middle of the car, and then all the photographer and VIP put arround the car, and I was wait 1 hour for take a pictures with anybody in the middle.

    Wow - this is so cool. But I thought the launch was tomorrow - GCM and the rest of the Team just got there today.

    This morning, was the launch of Minardi, an I was there, I didnt take a lot of photos, because there are some "foreros", that where in better place than me, and I think, they are bring a really good pictures, but I upload my few pictures.

    Tomorrow is the big day, I dont Know how I take pictures and use the video camara at the same time, I need two more arms!

    I pass a very good time, first in the launch car, and then, a really really good time, with Ger, Dan and John I hope they enjoy with our city, I didnt take more photos, because Ger, Dan and John were in very best place than me, but I upload a little like an advanced.

    About the launch, was really good, the strange thing of the day, was when the speaker, present the drivers, he forgot name GCM....., a Big missed.

    Tomorrow is the big day...........

    What a great weekend!!! Thanks to Pablo for posting the photos and his hospitality in the city.

    Full reports to follow but I´m pleased to say nothing has changed with the team, we have been treated like family sice we arrived with full access and dinner with the team last night and a good display by Roldan today. All good.

    The event was outstanding. The people of Valladolid were there in thousands to cheer for Roldan. To see so many wearing Minardi caps and colours was great. I see not a lot of interest here. Guess that is the way 07 will be. We had a great time as Dan said treated like family.

    It doesñ´t have to be that way Ger, ¨07 should be a great year the team will have some great results in both GP2 and Euro3000, the people sponsoring the team seem to have plenty of cash so it will be a good year with maybe a championship in Euro3000 with Giovanni leading the team and hopefully podiums and wins in GP2 as the team seems to be coming together really well except Negrao didn´t bother to show up. All the other drivers seem to get on really well with the team and each other.

    At least on my part I wouldn't say lack of interest, lack of hours in the day for me to think of much besides the mountain of work I have for this semester is more accurate. In a little over a month I will have time and the GP2 season should be on its way and televised.

    No, not that one. I have that, and am disappointed with it. Its an oversized ladies cap, not adjustable. It looks good on the shelf though.
